Today in history on 29/04/2011,

Prince William of Wales, First in line to the British throne, married his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Middleton commonly known as Kate Middleton – the couple first met in year 2001 while they were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland  and after 10 years of their relationship (with a short break-up in between), Prince William proposed Kate with an iconic sapphire ring of his late mother Princess Diana.

Although the couple met at the start of their studies in 2001, yet Princess Kate only caught the attention of the young Prince, while she was modelling for a charity fashion show. Prince William reportedly bought a ticket of  200 euros for a front-row seat and then after a year in October 2002 they were roommates.

The couple now have 3 children as a result of their marriage.
